Finding the security camera that’s right for you

09/03/2017usefuldmadmin

If you’re looking to secure your home or business premises, your first port of call will most likely will be security cameras. They’re an effective way to deter thefts and catch unwanted visitors.

But there are so many options on the market in terms of CCTV, which one do you choose?

To help you find the security camera that best suits your needs, we’ve put together this brief guide.

What are you going to use it for?

First up you should consider why you’re purchasing the camera. Some are best fit for a certain purpose. For example, you may want to install a CCTV camera on your business premises to monitor vehicles entering your car park. But someone else might want to install one to act as a deterrent.

Some purposes require very high quality video, where as others need night-vision capabilities. Will the security camera be installed outside, or inside? Consider all of these things to narrow your search.

What do you already have in place?

If you’re adding to your existing security network, then consider the cameras and features that you already have in place. You will have to purchase a camera that can be added to your system, rather than work as a separate entity.

What types of cameras are there?

So now you’re ready to start looking at the types of cameras that you need. To give you a vague idea here’s a few of the more popular types.

Dome – Named after their dome shaped casings, they’re designed to be completely unobtrusive and versatile. It’s because of their minimalistic design that they’ve become popular within retail stores.

Outdoor – There are too many outdoor security cameras to cover here, but their designed around durability. They need to be able to with stand all weathers and still provide quality video.

Network/IP – These cameras can be both hardwired or work wirelessly transmitting their images over the internet. They often compress bandwidth so as not to slow down web connection.

If you would like to protect your property with security cameras and would like to discuss the options available to you, get in touch today. At Hyde AV we have experience working with many different visual and audio systems.
